Pinstriping and goldleaf by Rody

Pinstriping and goldleaf by Rody

The Rebellion is pleased to present, for your viewing pleasure, Pinstriping by Rody!

This month we will be exhibiting a collection of custom pinstriping by local pinstriper Rody. Rody has been pinstriping in Denver for 30 years and is considered to be one of the greats. Though I am certainly no pinstriping expert, much of this work simply blows me away. Watching Rody get to work pulling perfect consistent straight lines is nothing less than inspiring, the speed and grace with which he build up his pieces amazes me. If only I could tattoo with the ability that Rody pinstripes!

Anyhow, Rody will be at the shop tonight (First Friday Aug 6th) from 8 until 10pm giving live demonstrations and his artwork will be on display here for the rest of month. There are also unique pinstripe purchasables such as purses, shoes, panels and an array of other items. Everything is priced really reasonably and these items make great collectibles and gifts. So please come on down and help us celebrate First Friday a local legend.

Hope to see ya here!

Tattoo by Jason Kundell

Tattoo by Jason Kundell

This week at The Rebellion we have a totally tubular guest artist visiting from Portland Oregon. Jason Kundell is a very respected man of our industry. He is well known for his involvement in the powerhouse tattoo shop Art Work Rebels in San Francisco and, along with some peers, played an instrumental role in ushering the art of tattooing from what it was in the 70′s and 80′s into what it is now. That is, from a primarily biker oriented business into a more legitimate art form that now has an emphasis on custom tattoo quality and evolution of tattoo styles.

Please come by the shop and see what Jason is about. He is only here for a few days and is mostly booked up, so first come first served. Holla.

The Human Skull, by Preston Chambers

The Human Skull, by Preston Chambers

Preston’s books have received a great review in the current issue of Tattoo Artist Magazine! If you are unfamiliar with the magazine, it is probably because you don’t work in the tattoo industry. Tattoo Artist Magazine is, hands down, the best tattoo magazine available in the country, however it is only available to those working in a licensed tattoo studio (look for Tattoo Collector Magazine for the layperson). The magazine’s review stated “…absolutely amazing…Super cool, check ‘em out…”.

If you are unfamiliar with the books, they are two photographic reference books made and published by Preston himself. Each softcover book contains 80 pages of photographs Preston took to use for his own artistic reference. The first book, The Human Skull, is just that, fancy photos of human skulls. The second book, Filigree, is dedicated to all kinds of fancy ornamental filigree. Click here for page views and more information.

The London convention this year was a huge success. It was also the best convention I’ve ever been to, we had a blast! Not a bad start for The Rebellion’s convention career. Jher and Preston were busy, busy, busy tattooing all day every day, doing fun custom tattoos while Slaer and the girls worked their booties off seOur fellow 'Exhibitors' in Londonlling merchandise (of which we sold a ton!). Thank you to everyone we tattooed and who bought stuff from us. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

All of that being said, the real purpose of this post is  bit conceited really. I really just wanted to brag for a second. The convention was separated into maybe 15-20 smaller glass rooms, with each room housing maybe 7-10 booths. Im not sure how they chose where to put everybody, but we got placed in an AMAZING room with some real tattoo legends. It is an honor just to be mentioned in the same lineup as some of these guys.

We are super stoked to be attending The London International Tattoo Convention this year! Jher451, Preston and Slaer will be at The

This is the internet home of The Rebellion Electric Tattooing in Denver CO. In the fall of 2008, four of the areas most respected tattooers banded together to open a shop that would put aside all the drama and B.S. of the industry, that would focus and revolve around making good tattoos. These four tattooers were Preston Chambers, Jher 451, Ben ‘Chase’ Thompson and Lee Ball Dong. Since the opening we have added Julian Kates on a part time basis, and have hired Steven Sandoval on as counter help and as the glue that holds us all together

If you would like to get tattooed, please check our contacts page and give us a call or stop on by, we would love to tattoo you.
